Amanda Mitchell Acting Workshop for New Zealand actors.

All New Zealand Actors, get ready for a workshop with one of Australia’s top Casting Directors, Australian Casting Director for MULAN! Welcome to the SAC Amanda Mitchell Acting Workshop.

Amanda Mitchell is formidable in Australian casting. She worked with Australian casting legend, Christine King, before opening up her own casting house MITCHELL CASTING. She has worked on some of the biggest projects in Australia, and around the world. She has worked on hundreds of hours of Australian and international television, most recently helping Disney cast New including both seasons of Marco Polo for Netflix, both seasons of ABC’s The Code, and Hiding. Recent television includes SBS miniseries, On The Ropes (starring Keisha Castle-Hughes (WHALE RIDER), the second season of ABC’s popular Harrow (starring Ioan Gruffudd and Grant Bowler), and ABC’s Pulse – the casting of which has been celebrated as one of the most diverse ensembles on Australian television to date, and for which she was peer-nominated as a CGA finalist for Best Casting in a Drama / Miniseries. Recent films include the Australian feature Never Too Late (starring Jacki Weaver, James Cromwell and Dennis Waterman) and Back of the Net (starring Disney’s Sofia Wyllie), Amanda frequently performs consultancy work on international projects filming out of Australia, conducting extensive searches for the likes of Disney’s MULAN (dir. Niki Caro), HBO’s Sharp Objects (dir. Jean Marc-Vallee), and Sony’s Crash & Burn (for HULU). She’s currently working on the Ch 10’s upcoming series The Secret She Keeps (based on #1 Bestseller by Michael Robotham, produced by Helen Bowden (The Slap).

For the Amanda Mitchell Acting Workshop, Amanda will hand pick scenes for each actor based on their bio and headshot. Amanda is very particular about the scenes each actor uses in her workshop as she wants actors to be working on material that they could legitimately be cast for. Each actor will perform the scene for Amanda and then work with her on how else the scene can be discovered.

This is a rare and wonderful chance to work with Amanda, who has moulded and shaped 1000’s of performances. Amanda has worked with some of the best actors in the world and her knowledge and ideas on how to bring a scene to life are second to none. Amanda will bring her warm, actor friendly approach to each actor and help them discover new options to their scene, and hence to their own craft of acting. Amanda seldom does course as she is always busy casting, but she has a passion for working with actors and playing in the room. Amanda is a great friend of SAC and has cast many SAC actors in projects.
